What's the best way to get my beagle puppy to speak/bark on command?

I have a 6 month old beagle puppy, I've been able to train her to sit and lay down but I'm having issues getting her to speak/bark on command. Any suggestions?

You've got to do something else that gets her to bark, then give the command, "Speak".

Eventually she will associate the command with the behavior. This one can be tricky because they have to change their mindset in order to bark.

I thought my dog my knocking on the door. He would bark and I'd give the command speak. I got 2 for the price of 1. He knows how to speak and he is now a door bell lol.

I tried the whole bark at him thing and it didn't work. My dog just looked at me like I was retarded.

Gees, where did that Beagle come from?

I'm so use to telling people how to make their beagle be quiet that I'll have to get back to you in the morning after I sleep on that one.

Use food for a bribe. Show the treat and tease until the pup whines or squeaks. Give up the treat, and then go for a louder sound, until there is an actual bark. Praise lavishly with words.

I had my beagle mix puppy speaking at about 4 months or so. He'll do anything for food so I just had a treat in my hand and made him sit then looked at him and said "speak", then I barked. He'd get all excited and bark and I'd treat him. I'd do that about 10 times in a row for 3 times a day. She'll have it down in no time. So, now I ask him "do ya love me ?" in the same tone of voice that I taught him to speak in and he barks and I treat him.
